Rolling Stones Classic Wild Horses on CBG
Hi Cigar Box enthusiasts: Today I will be covering the Rolling Stones classic “Wild Horses on my cigar box guitar (CBG).
Each week I will endeavor to share with you my progress on building a show that we will be previewing this coming spring.
We will be touring the country performing at local cigar lounges and if and when possible, we will also perform at cigar box events.
Sneak Peek At What’s Coming Up
While we are not officially starting the tour until mid spring, we have been talking to the guys at the Cigar Shoppe in Ellwood City, Pa, where we will be visiting for the Christmas holiday.
We plan to give a sneak peek of the show and will be putting together a promotional video to put out to those interested in having some live entertainment at their lounges and venues.
Here is a sneak peek at some of the songs I will be covering:
Country:
Folsom Prison Blues (Johnny Cash), A Showmans Life (Gary Allen), Six Days On The Road (Sawyer Brown version), Long Haired Country Boy (Charlie Daniels), City Of New Orleans (Steve Goodman), Seven Spanish Angels (Willie Nelson), Redneck Paradise (Kid Rock and Hank JR), Mr Bojangles (Jerry Jeff Walker), Ghost Riders In The Sky (The Highway Men), Don’t Close Your Eyes (Kieth Whitley), Amarillo By Morning (George Strait), She Used To Love Me A Lot (Johnny Cash, also done by David Allen Coe), If We Make It Through December (Merle Haggard), Remember When (Alan Jackson)
Rock N Roll:
Born To Be Wild (Steppenwolf), Hello In There (John Prine), Lagrange (ZZ Top), Bad Moon Rising (CCR), Werewolves In London (Warren Zevon), Free Bird (Lynyrd Skynyrd), That’s Alright Mamma (Elvis Presley), Wild Horses (Rolling Stones), Copperhead Road (Steve Earl), The Devils Right Hand (Steve Earl), Suzi Q (CCR).
Blues:
Red House (Jimi Hendrix), Magnolia (JJ Cale), Road House Blues (The Doors), Blues Man (Alan Jackson, OK so it’s country), Broke Down Blues (Chuck Wimer).
That’s where we are right now, but the list is growing almost daily and we are sure that there will be something for everyone by the time we actually begin touring in the spring.
Deb has been learning to play the mandolin and hopes to be accompanying me on some songs by then. We also do the vocals together on a few songs.
That’s It For Now, You’re Caught Up
So there ya go folks, you’re caught up for now, but check back often, things are changing almost daily and we are very excited for the future of Guitars and Cigars.
Please feel free to comment, ask questions or make suggestions in the comments section below.
Until next time
